Indo-US relations set for a new high
To expand cooperation in nuke activities, trade and technology
New Delhi, January 13
Indo-US strategic partnership shifted gears today as the two countries agreed to increase cooperation in three of the ultra-sensitive Quartet Issues of civilian nuclear activities, civilian programmes and high technology trade while agreeing to expand their dialogue on the fourth and most vital issue: missile defence.

Centre calls Hurriyat for talks on January 22
New Delhi, January 13
The Centre today sent an invitation to the Hurriyat Conference led by Maulana Abbas Ansari for talks with the Deputy Prime Minister, Mr L.K. Advani, on January 22. The invitation extended to the Hurriyat Conference said “pursuant to the decision of the Cabinet Committee on Security on October 22, Deputy Prime Minister L.K. Advani would like to meet you on January 22.”

A galaxy of leaders of the Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) and the BJP, descended on this town on the occasion of Maghi Mela. They set the agenda for the next Lok Sabha elections, urging the people to decide whether they wanted an Indian Prime Minister or a foreigner to decide their fate.

Muktsar, January 13
Accusing the previous SAD-BJP government of neglecting the development of the state, while addressing Congress supporters at the Maghi Mela here today, the Punjab Chief Minister, Capt Amarinder Singh, today announced a grant of Rs 3.5 crore for undertaking public works in Muktsar.

World Punjabi conference from January 23
New Delhi, January 13
A three-day annual conference of the World Punjabi Organisation will get under way in Dubai from January 23. Former Prime Minister I.K Gujral will be the chief guest at the conference which will be inaugurated by the National Commission for Minorities Chairman Tarlochan Singh.
