Chennai, January 8
After
a gap of 24 years, the Congress and the DMK today clinched an alliance
deal for contesting the Lok Sabha poll and agreed to work together to
defeat “communal forces” in the country.

Roadways
staff, cabbies hurt in clash
Kaithal, January 8
As many as 24 Roadways
employees, including Mr Pahal Singh, president of the Haryana
Roadways Workers Union, Kaithal Depot, drivers of private buses
standing at the local bus stand and more than 10 maxi-cab owners
reportedly suffered injuries and eight Haryana Roadways buses and
30 private maxi-cabs were damaged in heavy stone-throwing both
inside and outside the local bus stand here today.
