Musharraf’s assurance to Kashmiri leaders

Islamabad, December 22
Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf today assured Kashmiri leaders that he was not rolling back his country’s Kashmir policy and the resolution of it would continue to be central to India-Pakistan relations.

“The way forward is finding a lasting and durable solution of Kashmir in accordance with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people,” official APP quoted him as telling an invited gathering of the leaders. Stating that “centrality” of Kashmir was important for durable peace in South Asia, he said Pakistan continues to have “unwavering” commitment to resolution of the Kashmir issue.

Meanwhile, Pakistan today said the parallel patrolling of the borders, agreed by the BSF and the Pakistan Rangers two days ago, would be confined only to Punjab and joint patrolling of borders in Sindh would be decided after a meeting between the BSF and the Sindh Rangers. — PTI
