Blast near Hazratbal shrine, 8 injured

Srinagar, November 15
At least eight people, including five Border Security Force personnel and two children, were wounded when militants detonated a powerful improvised explosive device at Telbal Adda near Hazratbal shrine this afternoon.

The Hizbul Mujahideen has claimed responsibility for the blast.

Official sources said militants triggered an IED, kept in a three-wheeler, at Telbal Adda more than 500 metres away from the shrine, housing the holy relic of Prophet Mohammad, when a BSF vehicle was passing the area.

The blast damaged the vehicle and injured an inspector, four jawans, two grandchildren of a BSF commanding officer and a woman pedestrian. The injured were admitted to different hospitals.

Meanwhile, sources said militants hurled a hand grenade towards Shepherd Mission School at Pulwama this morning injuring two peons and a police constable. In another incident, a vehicle was damaged when a grenade lobbed by militants towards a house at Ralwapoa exploded in the compound last night. — UNI
