Even as college and university students are protesting against fee hike, Panjab University proposes to make an increase of 20 per cent in the tuition and admission fees in its affiliated colleges from the forthcoming academic session.
A proposal in this regard is expected to come for clearance at a meeting of the Syndicate on November 22, sources said. The university will not increase the approved funds, except for university funds — which will be increased by 10 per cent. Importantly, it has been recommended that other funds charged by the colleges without the approval of the university will be discontinued.
In case of the teaching departments on the university campus, the committee has recommended that for professional courses, including engineering, commerce, business management, law, pharmacy, and mass communication, the university will make an increase of 25 per cent in the tuition fees.
For all other courses there will be an increase of 10 per cent. The committee has clarified that there will be no increase in the price of entrance test forms and prospectuses, besides the handbooks of
information.
