Iraq blast leaves 14 Italians dead Baghdad, November 12 A spokesman for the Carabinieri in Rome said 11 of the dead were from the military police and three from the Army. Around 2,300 Italian troops are in southern Iraq, many based in Nassiriya, which had been relatively calm since the war. The Italians are part of a British-led multinational force in charge of security in the south of the country. In a separate incident, the US army said an American soldier was killed by a bomb on a road north of Baghdad. KABUL:
A Romanian soldier was killed and three US servicemen were injured in separate clashes in southern Afghanistan, as American and Afghan soldiers continued to track insurgents in a remote mountainous area in the east, officials said on Wednesday. The US military said Operation Mountain Resolve in the snowy peaks of eastern Afghanistan would not stop until a terror network in the region bordering Pakistan was destroyed. — Reuters, AP |
