Our Correspondent

Lucknow, November 10
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), probing the poetess Madhumita Shukla murder case, today arrested Prakash Chandra Pandey, alleged killer of the poetess, and produced him before Special Judicial Magistrate R.M. Yadav here, who remanded him in 14 days judicial custody.

Pandey was arrested in the wee hours from the state capital on a tip-off given by Rohit Chaturvedi, first cousin of former minister and main accused in the murder case Amarmani Tripathi.

Chaturvedi, who is in police custody, allegedly told CBI sleuths that he was given the job to eliminate Madhumita Shukla by Madhumalini Tripathi, wife of the former minister.

Chaturvedi had then hired Santosh Rai and had given him a “supari” of Rs 2 lakh to kill the poetess.
