Cops zero in on
10 suspects in Swiss diplomat’s rape case New Delhi, October 17 The police has now e-mailed the photographs of these persons with others to the Swiss diplomat, who had already left the country after the incident. These 10 persons who were in the custody of the police are being cross-examined and scientific investigation is in progress to ascertain their involvement. “Different agencies of the Delhi police were working on various aspects and we are heading towards a positive direction to crack the case soon,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Vivek
Gogia. The police is also in the process of verification of the people who had gone to the Swiss Embassy for obtaining visas in the past few weeks. Besides, door-to-door verification drive is also on near the area where the crime took place. Meanwhile the police today revealed that the victim had bitten the rapist in his right arm when he sexually assaulted her in her car, on Tuesday night. The police is pursuing this lead vigorously. They said the culprit might have also covered the wound with a bandage. In fact, the police said there was good response from the public after thousands of copies of the sketches of the two accused were released on yesterday. A reward of Rs 50,000 has also been announced by the police for those who provide tip-off leading to the arrest of the accused. Efforts are also being made to track down the culprits on the basis of a pink-coloured plastic lighter believed to be of the accused. The DCP also said their finger prints were also being matched with those lifted from the lighter and the victim’s car. |
