Swiss national raped near IFFI venue

New Delhi, October 15
A Swiss national and relative of an embassy official, was allegedly raped by two unidentified men last night when she came out of the Siri Fort auditorium after watching a film in the ongoing International Film Festival of India (IFFI).

The police said the shocking incident took place at 10.45 pm last night when the girl came out of the auditorium. The two men who were waiting in the parking area allegedly pulled her inside a Toyota Qualis and sped away from the area. The victim told the police that she was held captive for a few hours and the duo repeatedly raped her before she was dropped at a place in Safdarjung Enclave. The girl had been medically examined and her statement was being recorded.

An embarrassed Delhi police today suspended five of its men in connection with the alleged rape of a diplomat’s daughter in South Delhi late last night.

Police sources said five personnel, including an Inspector, were suspended on charges of being lax in security duty outside the Siri Fort auditorium. Two head constables and two constables had also been suspended in this connection.

A case of rape had been registered at Hauz Khas police station Lt-Governor of Delhi Vijai Kapoor and Commissioner of Police R.S. Gupta today visited the auditorium to review the security arrangement.
