Tribune News Service

New Delhi, September 30
Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee will consult Law Minister Arun Jaitley on the issue of Non-Conventional Energy Minister M. Kannappan, whose sacking has been demanded by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa for allegedly supporting the LTTE.

A PMO spokesman said the Prime Minister gave a patient hearing to an MDMK delegation and said he would talk to the Law Minister in this regard.

A delegation of MDMK leaders, including ministers Gingee Ramachandran and Kannappan, met Mr Vajpayee and explained the position in the wake of Ms Jayalalithaa threatening to invoke POTA against Mr Kannappan.

“The Prime Minister listened to us. He is satisfied”, Mr Kannappan told mediapersons after a 45-minute meeting with Mr Vajpayee.
