Joshi’s resignation rejected
HC stays framing of charges

New Delhi, September 30
In view of the unity of the party ahead of the crucial Assembly elections, Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee today turned down the 11-day-old resignation of Human Resource Development Minister Murli Manohar Joshi, soon after the Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court stayed the framing of charges against Mr Joshi till November 4 in the Babri Masjid demolition case in the Rae Bareli court.

Vishwa Hindu Parishad international president Ashok Singhal today said that he and other leaders of the organisation would challenge the special Rae Bareli court’s September 19 verdict on framing of charges against them in the Babri Masjid demolition case.

More than 20 persons, including 14 pedestrians and six security force personnel, were injured in a grenade explosion at Shopian in Pulwama district this morning.

Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee will consult Law Minister Arun Jaitley on the issue of Non-Conventional Energy Minister M. Kannappan, whose sacking has been demanded by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa for allegedly supporting the LTTE.

Staff regularisation policy okayed

The Haryana Cabinet today approved a policy for the regularisation of adhoc, contractual and daily-wage employees. It was decided to regularise those employees, who had completed three years of service on September 30.
