India, Turkey to fight terrorism jointly

Ankara, September 17
India and Turkey today set up a joint working group on terrorism, signed agreements to bolster economic ties and said they would wait for the UN Security Council’s decision on its role in Iraq before taking a decision on sending troops to the embattled country.

Turkey backs Simla accord

In a major boost to India’s stand on the Kashmir issue, the Turkish government has made it known that it is in favour of a resolution of the Kashmir issue between India and Pakistan on the basis of the Simla agreement.

Top Jaish militant shot 12 hideouts busted
Srinagar, September 17
The police today claimed to have achieved a major success with the killing of a top militant of the Jaish-e-Mohammad in an encounter here last night and busting of 12 hideouts and arrest of 11 workers of the outfit. Identified as Nasir Mehmood Ahwan, alias Ansaar, the militant was killed in a two-hour encounter at Dana Mazar in Safakdal last night.
