DSGMC polls to be on Sept 24
New Delhi, September 3
Apparently under pressure from the Shrimoni Akali Dal (SAD), the president of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC), Mr Paramjeet Singh Sarna, today announced that the elections to the executive would be held on September 24. By announcing the date today, Mr Sarna is also understood to have pre-empted the move by the SAD-led opposition to unseat him on September 4 as he had already overshot his term.

Seeking to turn the tables on the BJP, the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee on Wednesday said certain BJP ministers were also among the beneficiaries of the land allotted to 291 societies. The allotments were cancelled by the Government of NCT of Delhi recently.

The Government Railway police (GRP) have launched a massive hunt for the alleged assailants, responsible for the murder of Mr Partap Singh, a gateman manning the railway crossing No. 23 C on the DUK section of the Northern Railway near Harsana Kalan railway station about 5 km from here on Sunday night.

The alleged remarks of a former HPCC chief and the local MLA, Mr Balbir Pal Shah, against the Jat community have stirred a hornet’s nest. Even as a section of the Jats guns for his head, loyalists of Mr Shah, including certain Jat Congress leaders, today rallied around the Congress MLA and refuted the allegations that Mr Shah called the Jats ‘traitors’ at a public meeting recently.

Police delay booking rapists of  Dalit girl

A teenaged Dalit girl of Sisola Khurd village was raped by two persons of the same village on Saturday morning. When the matter was reported at the thana at Jani, the cops reportedly did not show any interest to register a case. Moreover, they allegedly pressured the complainant to make it up with the accused.

MCD opens multi-system health complex in Rohini
New Delhi, September 3
The MCD has set up a major multi-system and multi-disciplinary Health Complex at Sector 7 in Rohini at a cost of Rs 5.50 crore. Mr Rakesh Mehta, Municipal Commissioner, today said that the complex would cater to more than 10 lakh people of Rohini and adjoining areas and provide ultra-modern diagnostic and curative medical facilities. Medical and curative services in all systems, including Allopathy, Ayurveda, Homoeopathy and Unani, would be available at the complex.

Woman killed  for dowry 
Sonepat, September 3
The Gohana police have registered a dowry death case against six members of a family on the basis of a complaint lodged by Mr Bhana Ram, a resident of Bhambewa village. The police have started investigations in the case registered against Bijender, the husband of Mrs Nanhi Devi, and five other members of his family.

Units making duplicate bulbs unearthed
New Delhi:
The Economic Offences Wing has unearthed two units making duplicate Surya Roshini bulbs and seized bulbs worth several lakhs of rupees in West Delhi. Two persons have been arrested in this connection.

NSUI may gherao Assembly

The state unit of the National Students Union of India (NSUI) may decide to gherao the Haryana Assembly in protest against the government decision to affiliate Bhiwani colleges to the new Ch Devi Lal University, Sirsa.

Eight get life term in murder cases
Ghaziabad, September 3
Eight persons have been sentenced to life imprisonment in two separate murder cases by Ghaziabad courts. The Fast Track Court-II has awarded life imprisonment to three persons, father and his two sons, in a murder case. These convicts will also have to deposit a fine of Rs 5,000 each.

Over 2 lakh kids to get pulse polio drops
Sonepat, September 3
More than 2 lakh children, below five, will be administered pulse polio drops in Sonepat district on September 14, during the countrywide immunisation campaign, according to the Deputy Commissioner, Mr Balwan Singh.

Air Force shoot down City Club
New Delhi, September 3
Indian Air Force, New Delhi scored a fluent 3-0 victory against City Club in the Delhi Soccer Association-SAIL Senior Division League at the Ambedkar Stadium on Wednesday. Two goals came in the first half. R Thapliyal drew first blood in the 35th minute and two minutes later L Danny scored the second goal. Inside-left Sonaram completed the tally in the 78th minute.

New Delhi, September 3
Fine performances by captain Mridul Badola (3 for 17 and 41 n o) and Rochak Sachdeva (4 for 10) helped Bal Bharti Public School, Rajender Nagar defeat Diwan Chand Arya School by four wickets in the second Ramjas Inter-School Cricket Tournament at the Ramjas Sports Complex ground. 

DPS sets up tennis centre

Delhi Public School (DPS), Indirapuram (Ghaziabad), has launched a mini tennis centre in collaboration with the All-India Tennis Association. Over 500 children are expected to make use of the tennis facility at the DPS.

Bal Bhavan School lift volleyball title
New Delhi, September 3
Bal Bhavan Public School (BBPS), Mayur Vihar, defeated Somervilla Public School, 25-3 to win the Zonal Girls Volleyball Tournament. Bal Bhavan beat RSKV, West Vinod Nagar 25-7, 25-2 and Universal Public School, Preet Vihar 25-10, 25-2 in earlier matches. The team was led by Tiru Lata, and included Shally Ahuja, Vimmy Abbot, S. Negi, Komal Gupta, A. Saxena and Shivani Kapoor.

KVS, Pushp Vihar to meet Delhi Cantt in final
New Delhi, September 3
Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS), Pushp Vihar, will take on KVS No 1, Delhi Cantonment in the final of the KVS Under-19 Regional Cricket Tournament. In the semi-finals, Pushp Vihar defeated KVS, Hindon by 24 runs while Delhi Cantt trounced KVS, Sector 8, R K Puram by nine wickets.

Karun Chandhok came up with an impressive performance at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium during rounds 19 and 20 of the British Formula 3 Championship (scholarship class) where he secured a pole position, fastest lap and second place in both races.
