Hema, Dara Singh, five others nominated to RS

New Delhi, August 28
Reserve Bank of India Governor Bimal Jalan, noted film actress Hema Malini and journalist Chandan Mitra are among the seven prominent personalities who were nominated to the Rajya Sabha by the President today.

The others are wrestler Dara Singh, noted Sanskrit writer Vidya Niwas Mishra, prominent scientist K. Kasturirangan and social worker Narayan Singh.

These seven persons will fill the vacancies arising from the retirement of noted journalist Kuldip Nayar, Shabana Azmi, Mr Kartar Singh Duggal, Dr Raja Ramanna, Mr Mrinal Sen, Ch Harmohan Singh Yadav, Dr (Ms) P. Selvie Das, Dr C. Narayana Reddy on August 26.
