Campus
simmers again
Sanjeev Singh Bariana
BATTLELINES
have been drawn, tension is palpable and a few skirmishes have already taken
place. The Panjab University campus in Chandigarh appears to be on the boil once
again. On August 1, violence broke out
between rival factions of the Haryana Students Association. A day earlier, a
student leader had been beaten up by a group of students opposing him. |

ADVENTURE
‘These girls are
tough, they made it to the top’
Yana Bey
"THESE
girls are tough. Otherwise they would never have made it to the top. Some of
those Navy lads with whom we climbed Kamet last month wouldn’t have been able
to summit this peak," said Pasang Dorjee, one of the guides on the Indian
Mountaineering Foundation’s all-women expedition to Argan Kangri (6789 m) in
Ladakh this July.

HIMACHAL
Pradesh has made a significant contribution in the country's struggle
for freedom. Amongst the galaxy of glittering stars of the freedom
struggle, stands out the name of Baba Kanshi Ram, who was
affectionately known as ‘Pahari Gandhi’ — an endearing epithet
accorded to him by Jawaharlal Nehru.
