Campus simmers again

BATTLELINES have been drawn, tension is palpable and a few skirmishes have already taken place. The Panjab University campus in Chandigarh appears to be on the boil once again. On August 1, violence broke out between rival factions of the Haryana Students Association. A day earlier, a student leader had been beaten up by a group of students opposing him. Campus simmers again

HESE girls are tough. Otherwise they would never have made it to the top. Some of those Navy lads with whom we climbed Kamet last month wouldn’t have been able to summit this peak," said Pasang Dorjee, one of the guides on the Indian Mountaineering Foundation’s all-women expedition to Argan Kangri (6789 m) in Ladakh this July.

IMACHAL Pradesh has made a significant contribution in the country's struggle for freedom. Amongst the galaxy of glittering stars of the freedom struggle, stands out the name of Baba Kanshi Ram, who was affectionately known as ‘Pahari Gandhi’ — an endearing epithet accorded to him by Jawaharlal Nehru.
