Amritsar, August 3
Pakistan High Commissioner Aziz Ahmed Khan who returned to India after attending a meeting in Islamabad on the resumption of rail links with India, today said Pakistan was ready to start the "Samjhauta Express" between the two countries.

The High Commissioner who came via the Indo-Pakistan joint check-post at Wagah, 25 km from here, said Pakistan was only awaiting a nod from India and the rail services could restart.

He said the love and care showered on baby Noor Fatima of Pakistan suffering from heart disorder and treated free of cost in India had won Pakistani hearts.

"Noor has become the heart-to-heart link between the two countries", the High Commissioner commented.

However, he said more steps needed to be taken by both countries to counter the decade-old bitterness between them. He said there was also a move to revive the air link between India and Pakistan this month.

Mr Aziz said all administrative and other preparations for the rail and air links had already been completed by his country and what remained to be done was a formal joint decision on the date of resumption of these services by the two governments.
