5 washed away in HP cloudburst

Dharamsala, August 1
Five persons were washed away and two others were injured following a cloudburst which caused torrential rains in flash floods at Lulhani village of Baijnath subdivision in the past 24 hours.

According to information received here today the heavy downpour caused flood in the local nullah which inundated four residential buildings, a shop, three cowsheds and a water mill Five persons — Karam Chand, Punni Devi, Kyaro Devi, Meenakshi and Sunita — were washed away. Five cows and three calves were also reportedly lost in the flood. Kapoor Chand and Kailasho Devi who were injured are under treatment at Civil Hospital, Baijnath.

The Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kangra, Dr Amandeep Garg and the Superintendent of Police, Mr Zahoor Zaidi, visited the spot today and took stock of the situation.
