New Delhi, July 23
Demanding an “outright war” against Pakistan, the VHP today asked the Centre to abandon all peace initiatives in the wake of terrorist attacks on Vaishno Devi pilgrims and an Army camp in Jammu and Kashmir.

“We do not understand the point in India continuing with the peace initiative when the Pakistan-sponsored terrorism and infiltration has increased after the Prime Minister extended the hand of friendship to that country”, Delhi VHP president Om Prakash Singhal said addressing an anti-Pakistan demonstration here.

In a veiled criticism of Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani, the VHP asked him to “stand up to the stature of ‘lauh purush’ (‘iron man’ as he is called) by ending the Pakistani menace for ever with an outright war and not quietly tolerate one attack after the other”.

Demanding the stoppage of the Delhi-Lahore bus service with immediate effect, Mr Singhal asked “why was the service resumed when there was hardly any change in the ground situation. We had protested when the service was resumed and now our stand has been vindicated”.

Accusing the Mufti government in Jammu and Kashmir of “encouraging terrorists through the healing touch policy”, the VHP wanted its immediate dismissal and handing over of the militancy-torn state to the Army. — PTI
