Tribune News Service

Amritsar, July 17
The Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) today issued letters for the allotment of residential plots, belonging to the Golden Temple, to more than 100 employees, including the secretary, a head priest and senior functionaries.

The prime land worth crores is located in Golden Avenue.

Earlier, the letters were withdrawn immediately after distribution following the publication of a report in these columns on July 14 and the SGPC chief had described the news item as baseless.

Interestingly, the letters issued today which were signed by the manager, Darbar Sahib, Mr Ajaib Singh, mentioned the date of allotment as July 14.

The letter asks the allottees to deposit one-fourth of the amount by July 21 with the SGPC cashier. It says that the allotment is being made on the basis of a decision of the executive committee meeting held on October 23, 2001. Mr Jagdev Singh Talwandi was the SGPC chief at that time. The criterian is 18 years service.
