NHRC seeks report on Best Bakery case

New Delhi, June 30
Taking suo motu cognisance of the acquittal of all 21 accused in the Best Bakery carnage in the wake of Godhra communal violence, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) today asked the Gujarat Government to inform it of the steps it proposed to take against the acquittal.

“The Chief Secretary shall inform the commission what steps, if any, the Gujarat Government is proposing to take against the order of acquittal”, the commission headed by Justice A.S. Anand said after a full commission meeting today. — PTI
