Nyas rejects seer’s proposals Ayodhya, June 30 Declaring that the solution offered by the Shankaracharya was not acceptable to the samitis, the Paramhans said here that the solution to the dispute could not be brought by the Shankaracharya as the “total Hindu community did not regard him as their head”. He stressed that the Shankaracharya had no relation with the Ayodhya issue and alleged that he “did not want to resolve the issue but wanted to play politics” and that he was offering the “government’s formula” which the Hindu community would never accept. While totally dismissing the Shankaracharya’s formula, he averred that a Ram temple would be built at the Lord’s birthplace only. He also said Sri Ramjanmabhoomi, the Kashi Vishwanath temple and the Lord Krishna’s birthplace in Mathura were ancient and historic sites and the issues related to those could not be overlooked as all the places were related to the faith of the Hindu society. There were four “Peeths” in the country and the Kanchi Kamkoti peeth was “insignificant”, he added. He also charged the Shankaracharya with “taking advantage of his status,” saying, “He has no right to take advantage of the faith reposed on him by the Hindu community”. Nagpur: Opposing the construction of any mosque within ’14 kose’, approximately 44 km, of Ram temple in Ayodhya, the VHP said on Monday that its criticism of Deputy Prime Minister L.K. Advani was in a “particular” context and it did not intend to marginalise the BJP on the issue. “The VHP would stick to three points, temple at Ayodhya at any cost, welcome to any unconditional discussion or negotiations and no mosque within 14-kose territory of temple in Ayodhya”, VHP General Secretary Praveen Togadia told reporters here. On VHP’s attack on BJP leaders, he said criticism against Mr Advani was in a particular context. He also said VHP’s criticism was not against the BJP as such but against the NDA which has no Hindutva agenda and there was no question of marginalising the BJP. —
