Troops ready for Iraq, says Gen Davar

New Delhi, June 18
The Army tonight said it was “absolutely prepared” to operate in Iraq but under its own command and flag as part of the stabilisation force, should the Indian Government decide to send its troops to the war-ravaged country.

“We are always prepared, but the decision of sending the troops to Iraq or not rests with the government which is examining the issue in its entirety,” Lieut-Gen Kamal Davar, Director-General of the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA), said.

General Davar said: “Infiltration of terrorists from across the LoC is continuing. The support structures for infiltration has virtually seen no perceptible change.” UNI
