MCC Naxals set ablaze rly station, torch loco

Ranchi, June 11
Outlawed Maoist Communist Centre (MCC) extremists set ablaze a railway station, blew up a one-km track and torched a locomotive on the second day of the two-day Jharkhand bandh today.

The extremists set ablaze Hanbara railway station and its East Cabin, blew up a one-km track in Hazaribagh district late last night and torched a diesel locomotive between Kumadih and Bendi Stations, sources said.

Train services and long-distance bus services were affected in some parts of the state, reports said here.

Shops and business establishments remained open and government offices and banks functioned normally in most parts of the states.

The MCC called the bandh in protest against the ongoing anti-insurgency operation in the state.

A report from Daltonganj said the bandh had affected life in Palamu district. Buses were off the road. Shops and business establishments remained closed and attendance in government offices was thin, it added. UNI
