Medha Patkar’s condition worsens

Nasik, June 3
The condition of NBA leader Medha Patkar today deteriorated on the fifth day of her indefinite fast demanding the rehabilitation of people affected by Sardar Sarovar Project before monsoon.

Ms Patkar vomited but refused to undergo medical check-up when a government doctors’ team met her at the agitation site in front of the Divisional Commissioner’s office, Ms Pratibha Shinde, NBA Spokesperson, said here. The NBA has received a message from former PDF Minister Bhai Vaidya that Chief Minister Sushilkumar Shinde has invited him and social activist Mrinal Gore to discuss the issue.

NCP leader Vasantrao Pawar is also expected to discuss the matter with Ms Patkar. Meanwhile, the indefinite dharna by NBA activists in front of the Divisional Commissionerate entered the ninth day today. City Police Commissioner Prakash Pawar and his colleagues met Ms Patkar last night and urged her to undergo medical check-up. PTI
