General Candeth dead New Delhi, May 19 Lieut-Gen K.P. Candeth (retd), a war hero who led the Army in liberating Goa in 1961, died in sleep at his residence here early today. He was 87 and a bachelor. An Anglo-Indian by birth, Lt-Gen Candeth had commanded the Western Command during the 1971 Indo-Pak war.
