Evasive on Shanta’s re-induction, hints at tax on hydel power
Manali, May 18
Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee today said he would reshuffle his ministry “soon” and Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee might be inducted into the Cabinet along with some new faces. Talking to mediapersons, he also said the burden on some ministers would be lightened.

The Hurriyat Conference today said softening of Line of Control (LoC) or the border in Jammu and Kashmir should be considered only after the talks on the Kashmir issue started and warned that this policy should not be construed as a permanent solution to the problem.

First-ever naval exercises with Russia on May 20

A delegation of the Russian Navy, led by Rear Admiral Vladimir Pepelyayev, has arrived in India to finalise the details of the first-ever joint exercises to be held on May 20 and early June in the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal.

Though the Himachal Pradesh government claims that it is self-sufficient in the field of foodgrains and no one goes to sleep without taking food, a family of a mother and daughter in Thaan village of Hamirpur district is facing starvation-like situation. Another daughter, Kanta Devi (38), died allegedly due to hunger last week.
