Poetess’ killers identified Lucknow, May 13 “We have identified both the culprits, who were with Madhumita in her room where she was later found shot dead,” Senior Superintendent of Police Anil Agarwal said here. The domestic help of Madhumita had, in his statement to the police, said that one Satya Prakash and another person were with the poetess in her room before she was murdered. Agarwal expressed confidence that the two culprits would be nabbed soon. He denied that there was any pressure on the police to shield anyone in the case. The allegations being levelled against the police are “absolutely wild and false”, he said. The SSP also denied that police were ignoring the evidence collected from Madhumita’s residence and said the recoveries were made in front of witnesses and there was no question of ignoring any evidence. Meanwhile, Opposition parties in the state continued to put pressure on the Mayawati government for a CBI inquiry into the matter.
