Twentyfour persons were killed and nine injured in a spate of violence in Tripura since last night and 19 of them died in a single attack, the police said.

Additional Director General of Police Pranay Sahay said 19 persons, including some women, were massacred at Satchari Koloni under Sidhai police station by unidentified gunmen late last night.

A 120-strong group wearing black masks entered Satchari Koloni and torched 10 houses, besides mowing down 19 men and women and injuring eight others, Mr Sahay said.
