It’s ‘Manuvadi’ mentality: Maya

Lucknow, April 21
Taking a strong exception to some members criticising her in Parliament over cases of misuse of funds lodged against Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati today said it reflected their “casteist mentality”.

“In a similar incident an FIR was filed against me in a float pump case and the matter had come up in Parliament where I was present as an MP. At that time none of the members had deemed it fit to come out in my favour where as they are now raising a hue and cry over the cases registered against Mr Yadav and others”, she told reporters.

This only “exposes the Manuvadi mentality of certain people”, she said.

On her offensive against the SP chief, she said her government would act only as per the rules and punish the guilty.

The Chief Minister said her government would respect the verdict of the Allahabad High Court staying the arrest of Mr Yadav and seven others in connection with the CD and cassette case against them.

“Action if any would be taken only as per the law”, she said adding that investigations in the cases of misuse of discretionary funds would proceed in a just and impartial manner. PTI
