Haren Pandya case: 4 held

Hyderabad, April 17
In the first arrest in the sensational Haren Pandya murder case, the CBI today nabbed four persons from Andhra Pradesh, who are said to have received arms training in Pakistan.

In a pre-dawn operation, a special team of CBI officials, in co-ordination with the city police, arrested the four from a bus station at Medchel on the city outskirts while they were about to board a bus bound for Nizamabad. Pandya, senior BJP leader and Gujarat Home Minister, was shot dead in Ahmedabad on March 26.

Cyberabad police commissioner Mahender Reddy told PTI that the arrested were Mohammad Asghar Ali and Mohammad Abdul Bari (both hailing from Nalgonda district in Andhra Pradesh).

“The accused tried to run away from the city when they came to know that CBI team is after them. They were taken into custody when they were about to board a bus for Nizamabad at 5.30 this morning,” Reddy said.

The special CBI team, led by Loknath Behra, DIG, CBI, Delhi, flew in here early this week and worked on some vital clues about the movement of the accused in the city. PTI
