Cong MLAs to declare assets New Delhi, April 11 Capt Amarinder Singh, who attended the first meeting of the Punjab Congress screening committee at the AICC here today, said that each list of assets would be submitted to the ethics committee of the AICC headed by Dr Manmohan Singh. Declaration of
assets by the Congress legislators is part of the party’s manifesto and the issue will figure at tomorrow’s meeting of the manifesto implementation committee. The Punjab Congress legislators have decided to declare their assets to the AICC and not publicly. The AICC sources said today’s meeting of the screening committee was attended by all nine members. Though the issue of the party’s preparations for the 2004 Lok Sabha elections came up at the meeting, the focus was mainly on increasing the coordination between the party and the government. Ms Mohsina Kidwai, general secretary in charge of Punjab, told the Punjab Congress leaders to make greater efforts to inform people about the achievements of the state government. The issue of delimitation of constituencies also came up at the meeting. Besides Ms Kidwai and Capt Amarinder Singh, the meeting was attended by the AICC General Secretary, Ms Ambika Soni; the PCC chief, Mr H.S. Hanspal; Mr R.L. Bhatia, MP, and Punjab Ministers Ms Rajinder Kaur Bhattal, Mr Lal Singh, Mr Jagjit Singh and Ms Sukhbans Kaur Bhinder. Tomorrow's
manifesto implementation committee meeting will be attended by Ms
Kidwai, Dr Manmohan Singh, Mr Oscar Fernandes, Capt Amarinder Singh and Mr
Hanspal. |
