23 massacred by Hmar ultras

Guwahati, April 3
In one of the worst ethnic clashes in recent times, 23 Dimachas were killed by suspected Hmar militants in the Cachar districts of Assam.

The police said all of them were kidnapped by the Hmar militants on Monday night from Metnarthol and Chekerchan villages, located on the Assam-Mizoram-Manipur border under Sonai police station. Their bodies were spotted by a police team this afternoon on the top of the Mastul hill, 15 km from Sonai.

According to a report received here, the Hmar People’s Convention (HPC) militants attacked two Dimacha villages and kidnapped 28 male members. Six of them are missing and the police suspects that they might have also been killed. UNI
