VHP warns of direct action
Tribune News Service

New Delhi, March 31
The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) today said the Supreme Court verdict disallowing religious activity on the undisputed land in Ayodhya had “shut down any scope for compromise on the issue” and that the organisation would intensify its agitation to press for legislation on the issue.

“We should have got the undisputed land so that we could begin construction of the temple. Now it will be direct action and we will not rest till we get the whole land, including the disputed area,” VHP international working president Ashok Singhal told newspersons here.

Describing the apex court verdict as “Ram’s blessing in disguise”, Mr Singhal said, “The Lord did not want us to compromise on anything and he wanted the whole land and not a small piece.”

Meanwhile, VHP general secretary Praveen Togadia in a press statement described the Supreme Court verdict as a big blow to the Hindu community and said the organisation would intensify its agitation to press for resolution of the issue through legislation in Parliament.
