VHP’s ‘satyagraha’ from today

New Delhi, March 26
The Vishwa Hindu Parishad has decided to go ahead with its week-long ‘satyagraha’ on the Ayodhya issue in the Capital beginning tomorrow following the Vajpayee government’s failure to hand over the disputed land to the Ram Janmabhoomi Nyas for construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya.

The VHP, which had given the March 25 ultimatum to the government in this regard as per the ‘directive’ of the Dharma Sansad held in the Capital last month, had yesterday extended the deadline by a day saying that the agitation would take off on March 27 if the Centre did not hand over the land by that time.

VHP leaders claimed that on the first day of the week-long ‘satyagraha’, between 30,000 to 50,000 activists would participate in the demonstration at the Jantar Mantar. They would be led by Mahant Avaidyanath, VHP president V.H. Dalmia and working president Ashok Singhal.

The demonstration would be capped by court arrest by the VHP activists daily. Lakhs of activists would come from all over the country to take part in the ‘satyagraha’, they said. UNI
