No-confidence motion rejected in UP Assembly

Lucknow, March 5
The no-confidence motion against the Mayawati government was rejected by a voice vote in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly tonight.

Amid pandemonium with the Opposition members sitting in the well of the House, presiding officer Suresh Chandra Srivastava took up the no-confidence motion, which was rejected by a voice vote. The House was later adjourned sine-die amid noisy scenes.

Meanwhile, the entire Opposition in the UP Assembly tonight began an indefinite sit-in inside the House protesting “illegal and undemocratic” rejection of their no-confidence motion against the Mayawati government. UNI
