Sansad to intensify stir
VHP calls for Central legislation on land
New Delhi, February 22
The VHP -sponsored Dharam Sansad today threatened to intensify its country wide agitation next month to press for possession of the acquired land in Ayodhya and hold dharnas and demonstrations to highlight the “reality” of those “opposed” to the temple construction.

19 hurt as Khalsa Panchayat men, SGPC staff clash

In a no-hold-barred clash at least 19 persons, including 14 activists of the Shiromani Khalsa Panchayat, three SGPC employees and two members of the Sikh Students Federation (Mehta), were injured when they clashed in the SGPC complex for more than half an hour here today.

A major section of rural folks of the Malwa region, particularly the youth and the middle-aged, are going in for “satta” (gambling). With agriculture becoming a loss-making proposition because of the increase in the cost of inputs and a decline in the return from the produce, most of the farmers, agriculture labourers and youth, who were earlier hooked to drugs to overcome the frustration, have now started trying their luck in “satta” to make both ends meet.
