Dhumal sued for defamation

Ropar, February 14
Adding a new twist to the ongoing controversy between Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal and Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, PPCC secretary Bal Bhushan Sharma, a resident of Morinda, has filed a defamation suit against Mr Dhumal.

In a case filed before the CJM, Ropar, Mr Ravinder Singh, he has alleged that the press statement of the Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister published in “Hind Samachar” on February 7 in which he used derogatory remarks against the Punjab Chief Minister, Capt Amarinder Singh, and Mr Anand Sharma, senior party leader, had damaged the reputation of the Congress.

The complainant has pleaded that criminal proceeding under Section 500 of the IPC should be initiated against Mr Dhumal for damaging the reputation of the Congress.

The case which was filed on February 11, came up for hearing today.

The CJM issued summons to Mr Dhumal, directing him to present himself before the court on February 22.
