Adeeb Award for Hari Jaisingh Chandigarh, February 8 According to Dr Kewal Dheer, General Secretary, Adeeb International, Mr Hari Jaisingh, who has been chosen on the basis of nominations made by public for ‘his courageous and bold writings’, will be presented the award during Jashn-e-Sahir to be held at Ludhiana on March 8. The award-presentation function will be followed by a mushaira in which noted poets will participate. The function will be held at Nehru Sidhant Kendra to coincide with the birth anniversary of Shahir Ludhianvi, a great poet. The award consists of a gold medal, citation, plaque and a shawl, Dr Dheer said. Adeeb International, which was earlier known as Sahir Cultural Academy, has been actively engaged in the promotion of arts, literature and culture since its inception in 1975. Dr Kewal Dheer said Adeeb International had been honouring eminent personalities in the field of literature, arts and culture for 31 years. Some of the eminent recipients of the Adeeb Award include Dr M.S. Randhawa, Mr Prem Bhatia, Prof V.N. Tewari, Javed Akhtar, Sant Singh Sekhon, Kulwant Singh Virk, Dr Mahip Singh and Yunus Dehlvi. Adeeb International also presents Sahir Award to an eminent personality of Bollywood. This year Sahir Award will go to poet Nida Fazilli. Among the previous recipients of this award are Shabana Azmi, Sunil Dutt, Raj Babbar and Ramanand Sagar besides others. Former Prime Minister Inder Kumar Gujral and the present Minister of State for External Affairs, Mr Vinod Khanna, are expected to participate in the March 8 function. |
