No proof of Badal hand: IG Dakha (Ludhiana), January 23 Mr Sharma said the main accused Dr P.K. Sareen, had in his confessional statement stated that he had given Rs 50 lakh to Mr Badal as election fund but the investigation has, till now, not found any substantiating evidence to question the former Chief Minister. He was talking to a couple of mediapersons after attending a function of the NRI Sabha here this afternoon. Mr Sharma said the police was pressing Dr Sareen to provide them with some evidence to substantiate his allegations against Mr Badal. In another declaration, Mr Sharma said though the donors in the kidney racket, who had sold their kidney were equally liable to be prosecuted, there was no move to register cases against them. He said the focus of the SIT was to bust the nexus and if such an action against the donors was taken, it would complicate the issue. Mr Sharma said the SIT has turned special attention to Ludhiana and the district police has been directed to work on catching five main touts, including Amritpal Rajasthani, operating in Ludhiana and adjoining areas. The SIT was concentrating on 70 ‘suspicious’ cases found in Ludhiana and had summoned the persons associated with it yesterday. He said the follow-up action on the summons would be known a few days later. He re-iterated that action would be taken against cops in Ludhiana who had not done the factual police verification of the donors as required by the Authorisation Committee. |
