New Delhi, December 18
Three of the four accused in the Parliament attack case were awarded death sentence today by a special POTA court for allegedly entering into a conspiracy to attack Parliament on December 13 last year and to take VVIPs hostage. The three who were awarded the death sentence are Mohammad Afzal, Shaukat Hussain Guru and S.A.R. Geelani. In video (28k, 56k)

The Chief Justice of India, Mr Justice G.B. Pattanaik categorically said today that the Centre must accord the powers to the CJI “to prevent a judge from working or taking his salary for non-working.”

3 pc DA for Punjab staff

The Punjab Chief Minister, Capt Amarinder Singh, today announced 3 per cent enhanced dearness allowance for its employees, pensioners and government-aided educational institutions with effect from July 1. The amount due from July 1 till December 31 shall be credited to the GPF Accounts of the employees and it shall be treated as additional subscription.
