Hizbul ultras gun down 4 LeT men

Srinagar, December 17
Two Army officers and a Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) activists were killed in a night-long encounter at Kudpora Achabal in south Kashmir. Meanwhile, four terrorists of the Pakistan-based Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) were killed in a group clash with ultras of the Hizbul Mujahideen outfit in Inshan village in the Wardwan area of Doda district last night, a report from Jammu state.

Clashes in Vadodara
Ahmedabad, December 17
Three persons were injured in group clashes at four places in Vadodara where violence erupted late last night, the police said today. According to the police here, a group attacked a religious place in the Yakubpura area, apparently in retaliation to Sunday’s incident in which one person was killed and 17 were injured.

Cannot be penalised for keeping away from strike

A day before the proposed nationwide strike by lawyers, the Supreme Court today came down heavily on them saying they have no right to go on strike, call for a boycott of the courts, or even go on a token abstention from court work.

Parliament today approved the Representation of the People (Amendment) Bill, 2002, stipulating as part of poll reforms that a candidate after election should declare his or her assets to the presiding officer of the House.
