Hindutva wins 2/3rds in Gujarat
GUJARAT DECIDESAhmedabad, December 15
Riding on a Hindutva wave, the BJP today swept back to power in Gujarat with a two-thirds majority in the 182-member Assembly in elections held against the backdrop of the February 27 Godhra train carnage, communal violence and the terrorist attack on the Akshardham temple.

Violence follows victory
Ahmedabad, December 15
One BJP worker was killed and at least four others were seriously injured when they were attacked by alleged Congress supporters this evening just after taking out a victory rally in the Jangleshwar area of Rajkot district, police sources said.

ujarat has gone the BJP way, the margin of its two-thirds victory in the 182-member Assembly far exceeding cautious estimates of poll pundits. Apparently, the silent swing in favour of the saffron party started building up right from the halfway mark of the campaign.

As an icing on the party’s spectacular show in the Gujarat Assembly elections, the BJP today romped home in two Lok Sabha seats, wresting one from the Congress, and made a clean sweep of three Assembly seats in Rajasthan in the December 12 bypoll spread across six states.
