F you need a good sob, don’t bottle up your tears—research shows it’s the best way to beat the blues, says Lucy Hoe. Once, running on the waterworks in front of millions was considered to be a sign that the pressures of fame had caused another famous person to lose the plot (think Gazza). But today, it is positively revered in fashionable circles. Gywneth did it, the Spice Girls did it, and puffy, red eyes accompany every announcement of another celebrity couple’s break-up.

T's celebration time once again for Bengali director Aparna Sen. Her film Mr & Mrs Iyer, has been named as the best feature film at the Hawaii International Festival. Two decades ago, her film, 36 Chowringhee Lane had won the Kodak award for best cinematography in the same fest.

YUSUF Khan was born on December 11, 1922, in Peshawar. His parents shifted to Maharashtra and Yusuf got a job with an Army canteen in Poona. He made extra money by selling fruit. In 1943, he returned to Bombay from Poona. His luck and looks favoured him and he was selected by Devika Rani for Bombay Talkie’s Jwar Bhata. He was rechristenced Dilip Kumar.
