The controversy over the release of terrorists by the Jammu and Kashmir Government thickened further with Deputy Prime Minister L.K. Advani asserting that the PDP-Congress government in the state disregarded Centre’s advise on the issue.

The Congress is considering moving a privilege motion against Deputy Prime Minister L.K. Advani for “misleading” the House on the release of militants by the Jammu and Kashmir Government.

The case of corruption and embezzlement by Punjab Agriculture and Rural Development and Panchayats Minister, Mrs Rajinder Kaur Bhattal, in the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund while she was the Chief Minister in 1996 took a new turn today when the Special Judge, here ordered that the court of the Special Judge had no jurisdiction to take cognizance of the case.

Govt wants death for rapists

In a significant statement of intent, Deputy Prime Minister L.K. Advani today assured the Lok Sabha that the government was in favour of death sentence for rapists and would like to enact a law after evolving a consensus on the issue.

The drama is centered around the transfer of Mr Justice Amarbir Singh Gill of the Punjab and Haryana High Court who has recently been in a controversy regarding the PPSC scandal.
