Journalist Chattarpati dead

Chandigarh, November 21
Ram Chander Chattarpati, a journalist from Sirsa, died at Apollo Hospital, Delhi, at 8.00 p.m. tonight.

He was attacked on October 24 by two persons engaged by the manager of Dera Sachha Sauda near Sirsa, Mr Krishan Lal. This was revealed by the two persons who were nabbed by local residents near Chattarpati’s house after the attack. His reports had reportedly annoyed the Dera people.

Various organisations of Sirsa, including the Bar association, have given a call for Sirsa bandh tomorrow. He is survived by his wife, two sons and two daughters. Haryana Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala has mourned Chattarpati’s death.
