Congress, PDP talks make some headway
Both parties lay claim to CM’s post

Efforts to form a coalition between the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and the Congress in Jammu and Kashmir made some headway tonight with PDP chief Mufti Mohammed Sayeed meeting Congress President Sonia Gandhi to discuss the formation of government.

Harbhajan spins India to victory

Harbhajan Singh fashioned India’s first-ever innings victory over West Indies with a mesmerising seven-wicket haul that skittled out the tourists for 188 in their second innings on the fourth day of the first cricket Test here today.

Party backing Pervez ahead
Islamabad, October 12
The prospect of a hung Parliament loomed large as the Pakistan Muslim League (Quaid-e-Azam) a party favouring President Pervez Musharraf, emerged as the single largest party, winning 77 seats as counting was completed for 268 of the 272-seat National Assembly.

Bhullar gets back powers

In less than 48 hours of its decision to give “sweeping powers” to Mr A.A. Siddiqui after designating him as Officer on Special Duty (Law and Order), the Punjab Government today relented to restore the status of Mr M. S. Bhullar as full-fledged Director-General of Police.
