Mushtaq Ahmad LoneUltras kill J&K Law Minister
Srinagar, September 11
Jammu and Kashmir Law Minister Mushtaq Ahmad Lone was killed today in a militant attack, official sources said here. The militants first triggered a landmine blast as his motorcade passed and fired a volley of gun shots killing him in Rednag village in Kupwara district.

120 die in worst Rajdhani mishap
Rafiganj (Bihar), September 10
More than 120 persons were feared killed and about 180 injured, some of them critically, when the new Delhi-bound Rajdhani Express from Howrah jumped tracks hurtling one of the bogies into a virtually dry river bed with many others dangling from an 86-year-old bridge near here late last night.

Railways says sabotage
New Delhi, September 10
Chairman Railway Board, I.I.M.S. Rana, on returning today from the accident spot, reiterated that sabotage was the main cause of the accident. Addressing mediapersons at Rail Bhavan here late evening, Mr Rana said the train had derailed 50 metres before reaching the bridge and that there was no link between the bridge and the derailment.

The tragic train accident which has taken a toll of over 100 lives, has cast a pall of gloom in Bengal as many of the victims are from the state. The accident shocked not only the families of the victims, but also common people.


Blast in Kashmir
Srinagar, September 10
11 militants, three securitymen and a People’s Democratic Party (PDP) activist were among 18 killed in separate incidents since last evening in Jammu and Kashmir where the security forces apprehended two ultras and their four harbourers. A powerful blast, set off by militants, left one person dead and 28 wounded in Pattan town in Barmula, an official spokesman said.
