President’s nod to prosecute Sidhu

Patiala, September 9
The Vigilance Bureau has received sanction to prosecute suspended PPSC Chairman Ravinderpal Singh Sidhu from the office of the President.

Sources said the sanction to prosecute Sidhu had been given by the President on the plea of the Vigilance Bureau that the selection process under the PPSC had been vitiated by him.

The bureau had also submitted an FIR registered in the case against Sidhu and his family members. The sources said the sanction to prosecute Sidhu would be placed in court records here.

Sidhu’s counsel had earlier filed an application in court, asserting that his client should be discharged in the case as permission to prosecute him had not been received by the state government. The case was to come up for hearing on September 20. TNS
