2 NC workers killed
Srinagar, September 8 Official sources said militants entered the house of an NC worker, Ghulam Mohiuddin Malik, at Sonmullah Vilgam and shot him dead late last night. They also gunned down one Mushtaq Ahmad Khan, an employee of a silk factory and NC worker at Tengpora Bypass today. Militants hurled a hand grenade towards a BSF picket at Alamgari Bazar in the downtown last night, causing injuries to five persons, including a BSF jawan. The injured were hospitalised, he said. In another grenade attack by militants at Kulgam bus stand last night, four persons, including two SPOs, were injured.

Kargil, 1 dead Srinagar, September 8 Indian troops returned the
artillery and mortar fire, they said, adding the Pakistani shelling in the Kargil, Dras and Batalik sectors continued this morning also. More than 300 artillery and mortar shells hit the mountains surrounding Kargil town this morning, the sources said. They said a labourer was killed and another was seriously wounded when a shell exploded at a quarry in the Chumchuk area on the outskirts of the town overnight. The sources said Pakistani troops targeted Khurbatang and Baroo village in Kargil where airport and radio station are located. No damage was caused to the airport and the radio station though many shells exploded in their vicinity.
