Haryana IGP arrested
Tribune News Service

New Delhi, September 5
After evading arrest in a customs duty-evasion case for more than a year, the Haryana Inspector-General of Police Harish Kumar was today arrested by the Delhi police on the charges of violation of the Conservation of Foreign Exchange and Prevention of Smuggling Activities Act (COFEPOSA).

The police picked up the officer around 3.30 pm today near the Sarojini Nagar post office and took him to the Safdarjung Hospital for medical check-up, from where he was sent to Tihar Jail.

The IGP had been evading arrest ever since the officials of the Enforcement Directorate found that he was evading customs duty to the tune of crores.
